Step 1: Complete a pre-screening interview
Step 2: Complete and submit the BHCPA New Foster Parent Application Part One
Step 3: Successfully pass the criminal record and FBI background checks
Step 4: Attend the initial orientation training
Step 5: Receive and complete the New Foster Parent Application Part Two
Step 6: Attend and complete the New Foster Parent Pre-Service Training
Step 7: Identify qualified respite/back up childcare persons (who meet the requirements)
Step 8: Complete and pass a home screening
Step 9: Complete and submit all outstanding agency/state required forms and documentation
Step 10: Sign agreements, receive foster parent handbook, and home verification certificate
